This cycle route follows quiet country roads with some traffic-free sections, mostly in urban areas, and passes through rural villages as well as larger towns, offering rugged beauty, ocean battered coasts and deserted mountain landscapes while travelling through a wide variety of scenic landscapes including dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

You will realise quite quickly that only the section of the trail in the Republic of Ireland is shown on the Sport Ireland map: it's actually a circular trail (not a linear trail at all) with about half in Co Tyrone and Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. Did most of this last year. Pros are you get some stunning scenery on mostly empty (and safe) roads. Cons are it can be quite hilly, especially of you are shifting a few full paniers, and about a quarter of the total road surface is really quite rough. But overall if you get decent weather this is a great trip.
