Just a short hop from Dublin this can easily be done as an out and back or a linear walk by dropping a car where you want to finish to retrieve the car at the start.

It's an easy stroll for all ages. With pets and even room for the kids on bikes.

With small kids there are some great sections of woods to explore.

Myself and my wife walked this trail from the car park in Avon Ri to Russborough House return trip of 12k. We found it a most pleasant walk and very safe for all ages. It was well signposted along the route. We didn't take the loops along the lake as it was very mucky the day we were there 25/03/18. We stopped off at the tea rooms in Russborough House which is well worth the visit. It is a great mixture of forest trails and lake views. On our return from Russborough House we decided to walk on some of the main road. I would strongly advise other walkers not to do this as the road is extremely busy and drivers do not give you an inch of room. Learn from our mistake and stick to the trail. We shall be returning soon to enjoy this superb trail

Walked this trail today with two friends. I was expecting and hoping for more of a lakeside trail, with picturesque lakeside views, but was disappointed, as I found the sign posted trail more of a forest trail than a lakeside trail. Did expect the trail surface to be a less mucky than it was, as it's quiet a new trail. It is still a very pleasant walk and would advise walking/hiking boots.

lovely walk around the lake, but unfortunately badly marked ,there are plenty of little ways here and there that do not make it to the end of the walk - could it have better signage all along this new fantastic trail as we would have love to complete it,

A great trail that winds its way along the Blessington Lake shore and through the Pollaphuca Wild Bird Reserve. The path for the most part is very robust and wide accommodating both walkers and cyclists. There are two short sections of boardwalk. There are fantastic views of the lake with the Wicklow mountains in the background. The route was teeming with wildlife including birds, ducks and even a couple of deer. I started the walk at Avon Ri but due to time pressure I had to turn around at the R758 crossing. This round trip was 7.5km. [The map at the trailhead notes the distance to Russborough House as 6.5km]
