The walk takes you on tarred road as it circles the island bringing you to the wild and uninhabited interior and western side of the island as well as through the houses concentrated along the southern and eastern sides. There is a spur walk to the remote Lighthouse. Views are of superb coastal and island scenery.

Mark from Donegal

I walked the Arranmore loop recently, including the spur to the lighthouse. The weather was fantastic and the views were spectacular. At various points on the walk, there are picnic tables or seats which have been strategically placed to take in some amazing views. This is a really nice touch. Also there are a number of information stands along the walk giving interesting facts about the island and its history. The walk is mainly on narrow roads but there is almost no traffic. In the sunshine the island looked extremely scenic and is well worth a visit. A lot of thought and effort has gone in to making this a really good medium distance loop walk
