Damian from Galway

In terms of scenery and history this trail is amazing. It's the longest of the three trails on Inis Meáin that encompasses the rear of the island with its bleak, harsh shoreline. On the way you will encounter two impressively preserved stone forts and an evocative 10th century early Christian oratory. I would strongly urge to take the short detour back to Synge's Chair - it's mesmerizing in terms of scenery and location. But do make sure you return to the point you departed the main trail.
