Description of Trail

This is a level section of the old Limerick to Tralee railway in West Limerick which has been redeveloped as a walking and cycling trail. There are five beautiful cut-stone overhead bridges, a bridge spanning the River Deel, a riverside underpass and several places of historical interest along the section including strong associations with the Palatines and the location where the Ardagh Chalice was found. There may be gates across the trail at which cyclists will have to dismount.
