Description of Trail
This section of the old Limerick to Tralee railway in West Limerick, which has been redeveloped as a walking and cycling trail, is level where it runs parallel to the River Allaghaun then uphill for the remainder. It finishes with a short section on a dedicated roadside tarmac cycleway alongside the N21. The route is pleasant, passing through cuttings, embankments and under two stone bridges with a stretch through tranquil Tullig Wood. Across the N21 and not on the actual trail, the Barnagh tunnel area includes features of railway heritage. There may be gates across the trail at which cyclists will have to dismount.
