This walk takes you on a gentle wander along footpath through old oak woods on the banks of the Glengarriff River where you can enjoy the lush growth of ferns, mosses and lichens - typical of oceanic woodlands in the Gulf Stream influenced climate of South-West Ireland.

Dominic Michael Conlon from Cork

There are a number of walks in this park, ranging from 1 km to 4 km. I took the River Walk, which claims to be approximately one km, but I suspect it is an "Irish Mile". It is mainly on the level following one of the many streams along a meandering path. There are two sets of rocky steps to negotiate, but has strategically placed benches on which to rest and admire the forest surroundings. Enjoy. DMC
