On 30th May we did a combination of the Eco Walk and the Old Mill Loop, using the guides from the Slievebloom.ie website. The information it gives for the Eco Walk is very interesting and added to the enjoyment of what is a really lovely walk. One point to note however is on the Old Mill Loop guide between F and G the instructions, correctly, tell you to turn right, but the arrow on the post sends you left. You eventually end up in the same place if you follow the arrow but may miss out on some interesting features. The combination of water features, mixed woodlands and viewpoints make this one of the nicest walks we’ve done this year. In fact it was so nice that when we finished we left out bags in the car and did the Waterfall Loop just to enjoy parts of it again. Highly recommended.

Really nice part of the world and a hidden gem of nature and waterfalls.

The signage of the walk seems confusing, there are 3/4 colour marked trails which don't appear on the website here. I did the red trail which it said was 3/3.5 hours. Unless I turned off early it can be done within 1.5/2 hours.

If the walks could be updated to this site it would be great. Besides that, well worth a visit and car park is well marked from Roseanallis. Waterfall would be cracking for a swim during the summer months.

Grass is up to your knees along the riverside so bring rain trousers or gaiters if it's rained.

Hi Seamus, Glad to read that you enjoyed the Old Mill Loop walk at Glenbarrow. Yes the trail is 8km, a mistake on the old mapboard. New mapboard will be in place in the near future.

Beautiful walk along the river swinging uphill to a forest road and returning to car park. However, unless I'm gravely mistaken it's more like 7 or 8 kilometres than 12. On the information board at the car park this walk is shown as the red walk and is said to be 12 km. I measured it roughly on viewranger app and it's less than 8. Beautiful walk nonetheless. Less than 2 hours.
