I took 6 people up on this trail on St.Patricks Day (2109). It is the 'purple' way-marked trail as you leave the car park in Cahirciveen. You can see over to Dingle bay on this walk, so spectacular views are guaranteed on a clear day. What was nice is that if you have two groups of people with different levels of fitness, you can split at the top of Beentee. The fitter group could follow the longer (by 3kms) 'red' way-marked trail and the less fit (slower) group can continue on the 'purple' way-marked trail. You will most likely end up back in the town at the same time. Enjoy!

Dawn from United States

This is a moderate hike, starting behind the gas station in Cahirsiveen. Steady uphill to the top of the hill for stunning views back to town and east. The path then turns south, continuing the uphill grade before turning north again. Uphill to the summit where you'll have 360 degree views. Great place for lunch or a snack. Incredible views down to Portmagee and across to Valencia Island. On a clear day you can see forever. We continued following the purple trail markers downhill, until we reached a junction of 2 purple signposts and NO MAP or markings to explain. Now we had a choice: downhill straight or work the hill diagonally to the left. Both signed as "purple". We had no idea but figured we'd endup in Cahirsiveen at some point. On reflection, we probably took the wrong route, because it took us so long! Hope someone goes up and gives a little more direction at that spot. Regardless, we had a fabulous time and the beer reward in town never tasted so good.

The way-up is strenuous, but on the top it's a beautiful Panorama view! Loved it!
