My husband and I walked this on Saturday last 20th October. It is a hidden gem. The first part of the walk is along by the canal/river but when you go through the gates it transforms into a magnificent woodland walk. The 'flip out' information boards giving info on the various trees in the woods are a great idea. We are two OAPs and found the seats dotted along the walk a great boon to arthritic knees and hips. The presence of the trail markers was very reassuring that we were on the right path. A big thank you to all involved in making this walk and maintaining it.

This trail is almost like two different walks. The start and finish meander along the very tranquil Woodford River. The middle bit takes you through the lovely Annagh Forest, full of flora and fauna. Along the way we met a couple of grazing horses and fields full of lambs. At this time of the year the forest floor was covered in Bluebells and Wild Garlic. Approx half of the route is very rough underfoot although there are signs advising that Cavan Co Co are carrying out repairs. We parked up the town which extended the walk to about 7km.

Lovely walk, bit rough under foot in parts and there are metal stiles to clamber over half way round. It's not suitable for children's buggies. It's also far longer than 5km. probably more like 5 miles. I'm a regular dog walker on a 5k route I've GPS tracked. This walk is much further.
