Irish Trails Strategy

The Irish Trails Strategy was launched in January 2007 and it aims to develop a world class recreational trail system in Ireland for all Irish citizens and visitors to the country to enjoy.

The strategy highlights the many benefits from a health, recreation, tourism and economic perspective that are generated through trail usage, and it sets out a number of goals to be advanced over a ten year period.

This strategy has lead to the establishment of a National Trails Advisory Committee (NTAC) and the setting up of the National Trails Office within Sport Ireland.
